The Academy offers a number of different exchange opportunities. All trips have Academy faculty chaperones (number of chaperones is based on the number of students). Trips are open to sophomores, juniors, and senior students.
The Pudong Foreign Languages School, Shanghai, China
Fee: $3,000 (subject to change depending on costs and airfare). Costs includes all travel, hotel and meals.

About the School: The Pudong Foreign Languages School is a multilingual school. Many classes are taught in English, but students there also study German, Spanish, French and Italian. It is a five-day boarding school. Students are from Shanghai.
About the Exchange: The trip will begin with a three day visit in Beijing, led by an English speaking tour guide. After visits to the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and Imperial Palace, Tiananmen Square among other sites, the group will travel by train to Shanghai. During the week, Govs students and their chaperones will attend classes and special activities at PFLS, as well as seeing the sites in and around Shanghai. On the weekend, students will be hosted by local families- this is the one time on the trip that students will NOT be accompanied by their Govs chaperones.
Trips in the Pudong/Shanghai area will be led by one of the Chinese teachers and will include:
- Shanghai Museum
- Pearl Tower
- Hangshou and Suzhou
- Huangpu Riverboat Tour Excursions outside of the Pudong/Shanghai area:
3 night trip to Beijing with established tour company. Travel to Beijing will be by train.
- Great Wall
- Imperial Palace and Forbidden City
- Temple of Heaven
- Ding Mausoleum
- A Beijing Hutong
There will be two faculty members accompanying the students. The faculty members will also be housed in the dorm and will accompany the students on all excursions except for the home stays.
The Harkness Institute, Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico
Fee: $1,200 (subject to change, depending on airfare). Cost includes all travel and meals.

School: The Harkness Institute, Nueva Vallarta, Mexico
Language requirements: Spanish. While many classes at The Harkness Institute are taught in English, students will be staying with host families who may have limited English speaking skills
About the school: The Harkness Institute is a private bilingual (English and Spanish) day school that makes use of Harkness methods in their classes. The school is located in the suburbs of Puerto Vallarta, a block away from the beach. Students at Harkness are highly motivated; classes are small and seminar-based.
About the exchange: Govs students will be living with local host families, attending classes Monday through Friday, and enjoying time at the beach or in the city on the weekends.
