College Counseling Guidebook
The College Counseling Guidebook offers a comprehensive overview of the college search process at The Governor’s Academy. And while it is not all-inclusive, the Guidebook covers major college search themes and topics most students will encounter. As part of the College Counseling Office’s College Search Seminar Series, juniors are required to read the CCO Statement of Approach on page one. Juniors are then assigned subsequent sections throughout their college search.
While the Guidebook is largely designed for Academy juniors and seniors, ninth and tenth graders may wish to review specific topics. For example, potentially recruited athletes in all grades may find the Collegiate Athletics section on page 17 helpful. And students interested in a standardized testing timeline may wish to read the Standardized Testing section on page 10. Likewise, the Financial Aid and Scholarships section on page 34 contains important information for students (and their families) in all grades.
