We Are All Makers

We Are All Makers

The Governor’s Academy is excited to exhibit our employees’ artwork in the Peter R. Remis Lobby of the Wilkie Center for the Performing Arts from September 18 through November 6.

This year’s employee art show, We Are All Makers, celebrates the diverse talents of our faculty and staff, revealing the vibrant creative lives they lead beyond the classrooms, offices, and hallways of our school. It aims to break down notions of “good” and “bad” art and dispel hierarchies among art forms.

In this exhibit, you will discover a unique collection of works reflecting the personal passions, inspirations, and experiences of the individuals who make The Governor’s Academy a special community. Whether a professional artist or an enthusiastic hobbyist, each contributor brings their perspective to life in ways that enrich our understanding of one another; in essence, we are all makers.

We Are All Makers is about community, connection, and the creative spirit that binds us together. This show reminds us that education is not limited to textbooks and lectures, but is nurtured through imagination, self-expression, and the exchange of ideas. Art is an equalizer through which we can all process our world.

We Are All Makers will be displayed in the Peter R. Remis Lobby in the Wilkie Center for the Performing Arts on The Governor’s Academy campus from September 18 through November 6. Please take some time to experience this moving exhibit and join us for a reception on Friday, September 18, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. The gallery is open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and by appointment on Saturday and Sunday. Please contact Art Department Chair Shanna Fliegel to make an appointment.
