The Governor’s Academy is proud to present its first art exhibit of the school year, The Employee Art Show: Being Together. This exhibit celebrates the diverse talents of the Academy’s staff and faculty, revealing the vibrant, creative lives they lead beyond their classrooms, offices, and our school's hallways. It aims to break down notions of good/bad art and dispel the hierarchy of art forms.
In the exhibit, you will discover a unique collection of works—traditional drawings, terrariums, informal photography, and even glass sculpture—each reflecting the personal passions, inspirations, and experiences of the individuals who make Governor’s a special community. Whether professional artists or enthusiastic hobbyists, each contributor brings their perspective to life in ways that enrich our understanding of one another; in essence, we are all makers.
This show is not just about art; it’s about community, connection, and the creative spirit that binds us together. It serves as a reminder that education is not limited to textbooks and lectures but is nurtured through imagination, self-expression, and the exchange of ideas. Art is an equalizer in which we can all process our world.
We invite you to explore their works, engage with the stories behind them, and celebrate the expressions of the educators, staff, and administrators who contribute to the rich culture of our school every day.
The Employee Art Show: Being Together will be displayed in the Peter R. Remis Lobby gallery in the Wilkie Center for the Performing Arts on The Governor’s Academy’s campus from September 11 until October 13. Please take some time to experience the dynamic exhibition and join us for a reception on Friday, September 20 from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. The gallery is open to the public 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. weekdays, and Saturday and Sunday by appointment. Please contact Shanna Fliegel to make an appointment.
