New Year, New Faculty Faces!


New year, new faces! We are excited to welcome a dynamic group of new faculty members to Govs this year; learn about our newest faculty members in the Science, Arts, History, and College Counseling departments!

Kerlyn Caba joins the History Department after two years as a Teaching Fellow in History and World Languages at the Pingree School. A graduate of St. Lawrence University, she will teach AP World History and African Studies, live on campus, and coach volleyball and tennis.

Marcia Docks joins the Science Department after moving with her family from Los Angeles. She holds degrees in biology and chemistry with an MS in secondary science education. Marcia served as an Outreach Specialist for K-12 programs at Michigan State University. She lives on campus with her husband and youngest son and will coach basketball and work with the community service afternoon program.

Hexing Ouyang joins the Arts Department as the part-time Director of Instrumental Music. Hexing is an accomplished musician and educator with an impressive international career. He earned his undergraduate degree from the China Conservatory of Music in Beijing, then continued his studies in the U.S., earning a Master of Music from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee and a Doctor of Musical Arts from Boston University. He lives off campus and will assist with the winter musical.

Dr. Yufen Yen joined us last year as Director of Choral Music. She holds a D.M.A. in Choral Conducting and Literature, with a minor in voice, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. With more than 20 years of experience working with professional, amateur, and K–12 choirs in both the United States and Taiwan, Yufen brings a wealth of expertise to her role. She also serves as Music Director of the Cambridge Chinese Choral Society and taught choir at the Winsor School in Boston. She lives off campus with her husband and two sons and will assist with the winter musical.

Harry Bachrach joins the College Counseling department after three years in the Brandeis University admission office. At Brandeis, Harry worked as Assistant Director of Admission and served as admission liaison to both the athletic department and the financial aid office. Before Brandeis, Harry also worked as an Assistant Dean of Admission at Reed College in Portland, OR and as Communications Assistant for Arts at MIT. He lives on campus and assists with coaching the cross-country team.

Erin Hanlon ’20 joined the Science Department last year as a Teaching Fellow during a faculty leave and returns this year to teach Biology and Chemistry. A graduate of Bates College, Erin lives on campus and coaches volleyball and basketball.

Allan MacTaylor joined the Science and Math Departments last year to help cover a leave of absence and continues to do so this year, teaching Physics. Allan brings a strong background in science, math, and music! He lives off campus.
