Sager Bowl hosts first ever night-time football game under the lights

Friday night was an exciting night on the Governor’s campus; we hosted our first-ever night-time football game on the historic Sager Bowl. Lights were rented to illuminate the field for a 7:00 p.m. kick-off. Alumni, parents, employees, and students lined the sidelines for the home opener. Student leaders encouraged their peers to show school spirit by wearing all black, and the student section stretched for nearly 50 yards behind the home bench. Governor’s faculty member Jack Norton ‘12 sang the national anthem at the start of the game and there were entertaining contests at halftime between inflatable characters and the Governor.

2022 ISL Co-Champions, The Governor's Academy and St. Sebastian's School, battled it out in their first game of the 2023 season. Governor's enters the 2023 season with a talented roster of returners and newcomers, after finishing 6-2 in the 2022 regular season and earning a bid to the NEPSAC Kevin Driscoll Bowl. St. Sebastian's also went 6-2 in the 2022 regular season and competed in the NEPSAC David Coratti Bowl. Governor's is led by its five senior captains: Willie Pridgen (OL), Parish Souza (OL/DL), Hunter Kingsbury (WR), Corey Aubuchon (LB), and Tony Silva (RB). Governor’s played hard on both sides of the ball, but St. Sebastian’s came away with the 35-7 win.
