Captured in Line: Fashion’s Defining Moments

We are excited to exhibit the works of fashion illustrator Holly Nichols in the Peter C. Remis Lobby of the Wilkie Center for the Performing Arts through Friday, January 9. Nichols’s distinctive style and technical skill have garnered a wide, enthusiastic audience, with a significant following on Instagram (@hnicholsillustration) and TikTok, where she connects with fashion and art communities worldwide.

The exhibit, Captured in Line: Fashion’s Defining Moments, features Nichols’s work. Known for her fashion-focused art campaigns for clients including TRESemmé, Saks Fifth Avenue, Barney’s New York, Neiman Marcus, Disney, and Living Proof, Nichols brings her deep love of fashion to every piece she creates.

Working primarily with Copic markers, Nichols revisits iconic fashion moments across the decades, from the runway to the red carpet, capturing their elegance and energy through line and color. This exhibit also includes more personal works, such as the artist’s depiction of her own intricately beaded wedding dress.

“Through vibrant color and playful detail, my goal is for my fashion illustrations to invite viewers into a whimsical escape. I am inspired by the intersection of elegance and imagination, charm and style, movement and attitude. This collection celebrates nostalgia for fashion and film lovers, and honors the beauty of each silhouette and detail,” said Nichols.

Captured in Line: Fashion’s Defining Moments is currently on display in the Peter C. Remis Lobby in the Wilkie Center for the Performing Arts on The Governor’s Academy’s campus until Friday, January 9. Please take some time to experience this beautiful exhibit and join the artist for a reception on Friday, January 9, at 5:30 p.m. The gallery is open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. weekdays, and Saturday and Sunday by appointment.
