Music

Academy Orchestra, chamber groups, Jazz Band, Academy Singers (chorus), The First (auditioned advanced chorus), annual Winter Musical, and an a cappella group—opportunities abound for students to explore their interest in music and develop their instrumental and vocal talents. Govs musicians have successfully auditioned into the MMEA Northeastern District Festival and the MMEA All-State Festival as singers and instrumentalists.

Musician Artist Spotlight

Despite picking up drumsticks for the first time only a few years ago, YJ '25 has been an anchor for both the jazz band and orchestra for four concert seasons. Excelling in his role as a percussionist is not enough for YJ, who spends his free time refining his skills as a composer in both jazz and classical styles.
