With the Great Salt Marsh on the north side of our campus, the Academy’s location is a living laboratory. The Parker River serves as a natural classroom for our students and faculty. Our students engage in original scientific research, learn sophisticated field research skills, and contribute to the local scientific community’s study of the Parker River and the Great Marsh, the largest contiguous salt marsh in New England. To capitalize on these unparalleled opportunities, Governor’s plans to construct a state-of-the-art research facility, the Alfond Environmental Studies Center. The Parker River Institute will serve as the intellectual center of teaching and research initiatives at the Academy related to the Alfond Center, the Great Salt Marsh, and our surrounding ecosystems. Join us for a discussion on how these initiatives, working in tandem, will transform the educational experience of our students in the field of science.
