Athletic Hall of Fame Nomination Process
About the Athletic Hall of FameThe Governor’s Academy Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 2002 to honor those individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the quality and tradition of Governor’s athletics. The first class was inducted in the fall of 2003, and since that time, the Academy has inducted 42 individuals. Honorees are now selected biennially by a committee of alumni, faculty, staff, and administrators, including former and current Academy coaches. The Athletic Hall of Fame is located in the Pescosolido Field House.
Student athletes, coaches, and friends of the Academy are eligible for selection into the Hall of Fame. Student Athletes become eligible upon the tenth anniversary of the end of their final year at Govs. Coaches are eligible upon leaving the Academy.
Coach nomination criteria: Exemplary performance as a coach at Govs, realizing that teaching and sportsmanship are essential values of good coaching. Athletic performance or participation in athletics beyond Govs that has brought recognition to the Academy and has served as a model for our school community. Coaches are eligible upon leaving the Academy.
Student athlete nomination criteria: Exemplary athletic performance, sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork while a student at Govs, realizing that these qualities are critical elements of athletic success at the Academy. Athletic performance or participation in athletics beyond Govs that has brought recognition to the Academy and has served as a model for our school community. Alumni are eligible for nomination ten years after graduating from the Academy.
