What is the Tuition at The Governor’s Academy?
Tuition for the 2023-2024 academic year is $72,900 for boarding students and $58,025 for day students. We understand that each family who considers Governor’s must find a balance between the value of education and the cost of tuition. We strongly believe that the cost of tuition should not deter you from considering our New England independent school.
What is the Financial Aid Program at Governor’s?
In order to make The Governor’s Academy experience a reality for as many students as possible, we are committed to a financial aid program that enables qualified students from all cultural, racial, and socio-economic groups to attend. The financial aid program, in short, allows us to enroll deserving students who may not otherwise be able to afford an independent school education.
For the 2022-2023 school year, we awarded nearly $5.5 million in financial aid; approximately 29% of the student body received financial assistance.
Difference Between Financial Aid and Financial Need
Financial aid grants are awarded on the basis of a family’s demonstrated need. Financial need is defined as the difference between the cost of education and the expected family contribution, which is determined by taking into account income, assets, family size, indebtedness, parents'/guardians’ age, and necessary expenses. Allowances for taxes, medical expenses and allowable unusual expenses such as parents'/guardians’ educational expenses are subtracted from income to derive effective income. To help evaluate demonstrated need, we employ the nationally standardized system for analysis offered by the Clarity Financial.
