Do you have advice for Govs grads as first-year college students (and beyond)?
Read what you love until you love to read. Also, read about the different classes and majors your college offers and use that information to choose programs in which you are genuinely interested (and talented)!

Network. Definitely spend time getting to know your peers, professors, and staff within various offices on campus, including the Career Center, Library, and even the Admissions Office. Knowing the people who help make your campus function can give you a stronger sense of community and support.

Use your time wisely. Work on interesting projects with interesting people (who can encourage you to think differently or in new ways). Initiate with people who are doing cool things even if it’s not socially comfortable. Or start your own project and invite your friends and classmates to join.

Is there a special project you'd like to share with us?
As a first-generation Ghanaian-American, I founded The School and Beyond Foundation (S&B) to help Black students in the US and Ghana succeed academically and create the future they imagine for themselves, their communities, and the world. The S&B program focuses significantly on holistic student development including practical coursework, tailored membership, and student self-assessments.
