Led by Captain-elect Maddy Everett '13, the 2013 team looks forward to what promises to be a competitive spring season. Everett, MVP of the 2012 team at #2 singles and #1 doubles, leads a corps of returning players: Kelly Callahan '13, Ginny Durkin '14, and Katharine Gaillard '15. They are joined by four girls who bring a lot of game: Saule Bussing '15, Gwen Everett '16, Amanda Mohan ' 16 and Naina Pai '16.
The Academy's girls' varsity tennis team competes in what is arguably the most competitive tennis league in New England. The Independent School League (ISL) consists of 16 schools, 13 of which have girls' tennis programs, many of them with USTA-ranked players.
Our facilities include eight outdoor hard courts, six of them new, and three indoor courts.
We play about 16 matches each spring and are eligible to compete in the New England Girls Invitational Tournament. The ISL match format is six singles matches, each comprised of two sets, and three doubles matches of one 8-game pro set each. With each set worth one point, 15 points are contested in team matches, and 8 or more points (or sets) wins the match. Players are eligible to compete in both singles and doubles.
