This was a challenging home opener for the Govs 9. For most of the game, Govs played with confidence and poise. Two home runs by Chad Martin and offensive contributions by Ryan Scarfo, Trevor Holmes and Brandon Lopez helped create a 4-0 lead. Kasey Carollo was dominant on the mound through 5 and 2/3 innings, but tired in the sixth. After a few hits and a struggle for our relief pitchers, St. George’s mounted an impressive 7 run rally, all with two outs. The at-bats for the Govs team were all good in the last two innings but line drives found their way into well positioned St. George’s fielder’s gloves. It was a disappointing way to start the season, but a game filled with well executed moments for both teams.
