Brookline, MA – Struggling in two consecutive games for the first time all year Governor’s took on the Dexter School on Friday night. In front of a large crowd, the 2011 Piatelli/Small school New England Champions would play a sound up and down game against Governor’s all night. The first period saw the boys from Byfield trying to adjust to the large ice surface and this would be a theme all night for Governor’s. Senior and team point leader Alex Minter would get Govs started in the first on the power play. Entering the second period the two were tied at a goal apiece. The second period was old school fire-wagon hockey in which the two teams scored 7 goals. Brian Sullivan, James Murphy and Bobo Carpenter would tally for Govs and at the end of the second period Governor’s was down 5-4. Govs would play hard throughout the third period unable to crack Dexter’s solid team defense. Junior Brendan McMenimen played hard in net with 26 saves on 32 shots. The loss was Governor’s third in a row.
