Milton, MA – The Governor’s varsity team came into Friday night’s game flying high and prepared for a big weekend. The Mustangs from Milton had a different idea for the Academy. Milton came out with great pace and peppered Senior goalie Nick Commesso in the first period. Milton struck first and held onto a one goal lead heading into the first intermission. Milton would extend the lead to two goals midway through the third, but the boys from Byfield would fight back to cut the deficit to one goal on a pretty touch pass to Junior James Murphy set up by fellow Juniors Nate Ferriero and Geoff Sullivan. In the third period Milton would extend their lead back to two goals. Senior Bryan Sullivan scored late in the third, with Alex Minter assisting on the goal. While the effort was there in the third period for Governor’s, the teams push to comeback was too late and Milton won the game going an impressive 3 for 3 on the power play. Governor’s will have a chance to even the season series on Saturday back on home ice. The loss pushed Governor’s record to 2-2 in the ISL and overall on the season.
