The Governors would play a solid game against Cushing as they skated to a 1 – 1 tie in OT on the final day of the tournament. Cushing would have the lone tally of the first period with 5:34 left to play and were frustrated by Maggie Salmon as she was solid again in the Governors net. She faced a lot of pressure from a solid Cushing offensive attack and the Govs did a good job limiting second shot opportunities and kept Cushing to the outside and away from the slot during most of the game. The Governors would score a power play goal with 1:43 left to play in the game on Cushing’s only penalty of the contest and just 13 seconds after it was assessed. Natalie Sullivan would take a pass from Sara Alonardo and Elena Driscoll off the face off and Sullivan would shoot one low and hard on the net that squeaked between the pads of the Cushing goalie. Both teams had good scoring chances in OT and the Governors finished the weekend giving up just 6 goals and going 2 – 1 – 1 for the tournament.
