The Governors extended their early season success with a 2 – 1 over-time victory against a feisty squad from New Hampton. The Governors opened the scoring with 3:31 remaining in the first period. Siobhan McDonough would score her third goal of the season and junior Natalie Sullivan and senior Sara Alonardo would be credited with the assists. New Hampton would knot the score at one apiece as they stole a clearing pass from the Governors and beat Maggie Salmon for their only tally of the game. She was again solid in the Governors net as she has allowed only two goals during the first three games. Both teams played very well during the third period as both teams had scoring chances on the power play and at even strength throughout the period. With only twenty-two seconds remaining in OT, Maria Krull took a nice feed from Elena Driscoll and fired the puck low to the stick side for the game winner. Sophomore Cassie Hanlon would also figure into the game winner as she fed Driscoll the puck from the boards to the right of the New Hampton goal. The Govs are 3 – 0 but will have their hands full as they play a talented St. Mark’s squad at home on Friday.
