Pescosolido Library

The Carl A. Pescosolido Library
Built in 1997, the Carl A. Pescosolido Library forms the academic core of the Academy. The library includes more than 20,000 square feet of study and research space, a 30,000-volume collection with capacity to 50,000 volumes, 175 dataports and wireless access, hundreds of periodicals, and expansive, light-filled research areas and group study rooms. The library is a member of the Northeast Massachusetts Regional Library System that provides access to interlibrary loan, supplemental reference service, information databases, and document delivery through the Boston Public Library. The library has an active presence on Classrooms on Elmstreet, the Academy’s Moodle site. The library maintains research guides, library resources, reading links and research project guides for internal users.

MLK Day Display 2010
MLK Day Display 2010

Students are back from Christmas break, they've received their final exam grades, and things are happening here at the Governor's Academy. Martin Luther King Day was celebrated in every classroom and in special assemblies. We had two convocations our first week back: Frank Schaeffer spoke to us about spirituality and Chris Bradford told us about his work as a cofounder of the African Leadership Academy. The faculty also listened to Richard Ginsberg, who helped us understand how to promote emotional health  amongst students who are experiencing tremedous pressure to perform academicall and athletically. We reaffirmed our colre values, and to promote those values, teams of students, faculty and staff have formed to discuss the issues that face us and lead us into our next phase of growth.
