From a professional symphony orchestra to a small student recital, from musical theater to rock concerts, The Governor's Academy is home to many performances throughout the school year.
Student Performances feature our performing ensembles, soloists, and small groups. Along with three major school concerts, our students perform in a variety of small concerts, talent shows, assemblies, and coffeehouse-style performances during the year.
Guest Performances by outside musicians occur frequently throughout the year, and include many formal and informal recitals, concerts, and master classes.
Our Remis Guest Artist Concert Series features four guest performers over the course of the school year. The concerts are held in the Remis Art Gallery, affording the unique experience of listening to music while being surrounded by works of art.
Symphony by the Sea, now in its 29th season, is the North Shore's all-professional symphony orchestra, performing works ranging from Bach to Bernstein. Following the performances, the musicians hold a talk-back session with audience members interested in learning more about the music, composers, or performance in general. The Office of Student Activities hosts a wide range of local, national, and international performers, from rock bands to acrobats to comedians to hypnotists. There's nothing quite like watching your best friend acting like a chicken (literally) on stage. See the Student Activities page for more information.
